It remains the responsibility of the person bringing the rats to transport any remaining rats home safely.

All rats will be checked as fit and healthy to go to new homes prior to being put on the sales table, or passed to new owners in any other way, but this cannot be seen as a guarantee of their future health. The YRC reserves the right to refuse any rats where there are concerns for their health and welfare."

These guidelines apply to the sale, gifting, exchanging, transferring, delivering for pre-arranged collection and any other means of handing over a rat from

The term seller refers to any person bringing rats to the show whether money is changing hands or not.

The term buyer refers to any person collecting rats at the show whether money changes hands or not.

The term breeder refers to the person who has bred the rats. Rescue rats will be accepted at the discretion of the kitten sales co-ordinator and be subject to the same guidelines as for breeders.

All sellers and breeders must be fully accepted members of the YRC.

"These guidelines have been introduced to safeguard the health and well-being of the kittens and being mindful of the proposed Animal Welfare Bill.

The YRC encourages members to bring along kittens for sale, to buy at shows and to feel welcome to hand-over kittens to pre-arranged buyers in a safe and comfortable setting. However, this must be done in a way that reflects the spirit of the club as a place where rat lovers can meet up, share ideas and thoughts and show their rats.

A YRC show is not a pet shop and we extend the right to buy and sell animals as a privilege to our members to encourage responsible pet ownership, breeding and husbandry."
