Stop Press
After the distress and heartache caused by the illness earlier this year, the Committee took the very difficult decision to ban shoulder rats attending any YRC show for the foreseeable future. We are happy to announce that shoulder rats are now allowed back at the next YRC show on Saturday November 18th.
Obviously we want everyone and their rats to enjoy the show, so the Committee have drawn up a few simple guidelines to help everyone stay happy and healthy.
Only bring healthy rats either as entries or as shoulder rats
Please ensure all rats are lice and mite free. Obviously nobody intentionally brings infested rats with them, but if you have any doubts, please leave your rat behind. If you have any questions about lice or mites, Kay Redhead has kindly volunteered to be nit nurse and give friendly advice to anyone who has concerns.
Please do not bring any rats with you if your rats have recently been ill or any of their cage mates have been ill. If there have been any unexplained deaths, please don't risk your rats.
Showing is fun but can be stressful to your rats and we don't want to put their immune systems under any undue stress.
Please don't bring any rats that have been to any shows in the last 2 weeks. We don't want any of our beloved pets exposed to any illnesses that may be lurking around and may be incubating some unknown illness since coming into contact with other rats at shows.
Please only bring a sensible number of shoulder rats.
Please don't bring young kittens unless they are entered for the show or booked in for exchange. It's very stressful for young kittens and could compromise their immunity. It also prevents
confusion between shoulder rats and rats that have been booked in to the Kitten Sales table.
Please keep all rats within the hall itself. Not only does this mean we minimise the risk of anyone escaping, but we are at risk of losing the venue if any rats are outside the main hall.
This includes the car park, corridor and kitchen area.
As you can see, these are simple and sensible guidelines that we have implemented
to ensure the successful return of The Shoulder Rat and allow us to share our common
interest, whilst keeping our rats as safe as possible. The Committee would like to
thank everyone for their co-
